Lorna Rose

Portrait Artist

About

I am a figurative portrait artist working in London. I produce work in oil paint or charcoal, preferring to work from life. I appreciate the versatility of oil paint in terms of mark-marking and usually working with a limited palette. I have trained in traditional methods of drawing and oil painting but like to experiment with a more contemporary style; in my self-portrait I used a palette knife to apply and remove paint to create areas lighter in value.

Commissions

Commissioning a portrait can be an exciting and rewarding experience. You become a direct sponsor, a patron of the arts, supporting an artist in their lifelong journey of passion and creation. In return, you receive a truly unique painting, capturing a moment in time. The perfect gift or experience for art-lovers, with the process revealing the true character of the subject through the eyes of a trained artist. Contact me if you are interested in commissioning a portrait.

Tutoring

Before we can write, we draw, we sketch, we doodle. It is a crucial step in a child’s development, mixing play with learning, training our hands to communicate what we see in our minds. We often stop creating art at some point in our lives, but the foundations are there in all of us. As we grow, art takes on different meanings for all of us. Whether you’re an experienced artist looking to learn some new techniques, or a total beginner rekindling your inner child’s love for creation and play, please contact me to discuss booking an art lesson.
